Calling all birders, whether you’re a beginner, expert, or somewhere in between! This FREE Building Better Birders workshop includes both formal presentations and an owl prowl with plenty of time for questions. Here is the detailed itinerary:

Session One: 1:30-3PM “Milan Bottoms Bald Eagle Night Roost Survey” Presentation at Lee County Conservation Center

Session Two: 3-5PM “Ultimate Winter Bird Survey-First Ever Christmas Bird Count Marathon” Presentation at Lee County Conservation Center

5-6PM Dinner Break

Session Three: 6-7PM “Nocturnal Raptors of Iowa” Presentation at Lee County Conservation Center

7-7:30PM Commute and Break to Owl Prowl Location Chatfield Park Campground

Session Four: 7:30-9:30PM Owl Prowl Hike at Chatfield Park Campground

This event is FREE! Come for the whole day or for any single session! Binoculars available to borrow! The workshop will be conducted by Kelly McKay (BioEco Research and Monitoring Center), with assistance from Mark Roberts (Clinton County Conservation), Brian Ritter and James Wiebler (Nahant Marsh Education Center). Funding for the workshop is provided by the Resource Enhancement and Protection- Conservation Education Program (REAP-CEP).
